It is frequently used as a natural yet potent anti-inflammatory (it boasts high levels of the enzyme curcumin) and anti-aging antioxidant. It is an essential ingredient in curry masalas and mustards, and has been used to color dishes a yellow in the countries of Southeast Asia since ancient times.
The warm, peppery flavor of tumeric complements cauliflower, potatoes, and root vegetables. You can use it to color and slightly flavor a pot of rice or a cup of tea (simmered with milk and honey to create "Golden Milk").
